FINANCE: REQUIREMENTS OF FINANCE: CREW

A film crew includes many people such as a producer, director, camera operator, lighting operator, makeup and hair artists, editor and script supervisor. These are the main people needed on a film set however on high budget films there will be a bigger crew. 

The crew mentioned above is only the main people needed on a small film set so there will be a lot of money for other crew members left over if you want a bigger crew because you have a bigger budget. 
Shooting will consist of 5 days from 9-5. 

Producer; 
For a film producer they will need to be payed £40 an hour. This may seem like a lot of money however the producer does a lot to help your film on the market so you need to hire a good producer so you will have a high quality film.

Director; 
A director usually gets £37.50 an hour. Again this might sound pricey however these are the main people on the crew so you will always need to hire someone who is good at their job and who has lots of experience.

Camera Operator; 
An experienced camera operator is key when making a film because if everything is good but the camera then the audience will never clearly see that and they will think the film is bad as a whole. A camera operator should usually be payed around £32.50.

Lighting Operator; 
Lighting is very important in a film that's why you need someone who is experienced. Experienced lighting operators usually get payed around £10 hourly if they are working on a smaller job. However I am unable to find an hourly rate on a film set.

Hair and Makeup: 
Hair and Makeup really help a character become real therefore you will need to hire someone who can make a fictional character real. A hair artist usually earns around £7.50 an hour, however this is only in a hairdressers and not on a film set. A makeup artist usually earns around £10 an hourly, however this is only in a shop and not on a film set.

Editor; 
On a film set the editor gets £43.75 an hour. This may seem expensive however the editor is only of the only people who determines how the end product of the film will be.

Script Supervisor; 
A script supervisor usually earn around £21.82. They are very useful people to have on a film set therefore I believe it's a good idea to pay someone while filming so the actors and crew can get help when they need it.

All the prices listed above come to a total of  £224.89 however for a whole 5 days of filming they the price is £1124.45. This is the total cost for a main experienced crew. Even through it's good to have an experienced crew it's also good to have a crew who are just starting out in the film industry because it saves you money and gives them experience.

Clearances in materials means the process you go through to get permission, you need permission for; any sets used, the cast starring in your film, music if it is not copyright free, stock film, art posters, any brands mentioned or seen in the film, books, broadcasts, computer programs (if any has been used), dramatic works, and photographs.  Clearances need to be done when making a film so you do not get legally in trouble, your trademark isn't taken down and you have all the insurance needed when making your film.  For a review, you need to go to the attorney. When doing this you need to provide the script. The talent in a film is who stars in it. When you have a short film budget like £3000 over a big Hollywood film budget like £63000000 then you might not always see actors that you know. For a £3000 budget on the talent you could hire out 5 actors. For one male actor you would have to pay him £10 per hour. For another male actor you would have to pay him £10 per hour. Lastly for another male actor you would have to pay him £10 per hour. For one female actor you would have to pay her £15 per hour. For another female actor you would have to pay her £25 per hour. If they each work for 8 hours a day then in total it would cost you £560 per day. Therefore a week of filming would cost you £2800. If your budget has £3000 on each department then you could hire them all but if you wanted to save money on your production then you could use your friends or just have 2-3 experienced actors.
